Latest Data from China Customs Shows ASEAN Trade Booming

According to the latest data from China Customs, in the first seven months of 2025, China-ASEAN trade reached RMB 4.29 trillion, up 9.4% year-on-year. Exports to ASEAN totaled RMB 2.71 trillion, soaring 14.8%. Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia, as China’s top three trading partners in the region, continue to lead regional trade growth.

Behind these impressive numbers lies the key demand of the ASEAN market:

  1. Accelerated energy transition has created urgent procurement needs for green and high-efficiency power solutions.

  2. Rapid deployment of digital infrastructure has further amplified the demand for stable and reliable power systems.

The combination of these factors has opened a historic window of opportunity for Chinese power enterprises to expand overseas.

As specialized platforms focusing on the power industry, the World Power Supply Expo and the 2026 ASEAN Smart Energy & Energy Storage Expo will form a dual-platform matrix of “domestic accumulation + overseas market expansion,” helping enterprises tap into the ASEAN market more effectively.

Accelerated Energy Transition in ASEAN Drives Explosive Power Demand

ASEAN is experiencing a dual surge in energy demand and economic growth. Data shows that the region’s energy demand grows at 3% annually, with electricity demand increasing by 4%—well above the global average. To achieve a 25% renewable energy share by 2025, ASEAN countries are expected to invest USD 3.7–6.7 trillion in clean energy, creating a vast market for the power industry.

Johor, Malaysia, leveraging cost-effective land and policy incentives, has attracted investments from companies like NVIDIA and Microsoft to build over 1.4 GW of data centers. These high-computing facilities require low-latency, highly reliable power systems.

Indonesia, through large projects such as the 100 MW Karawang solar project, demonstrates strong procurement demand for energy storage and related power equipment. The project reduces CO₂ emissions by 114,700 tons annually, driving the large-scale adoption of green power technologies.

The explosive growth of the digital economy further amplifies power demand. Over the next five years, ASEAN is expected to become one of the fastest-growing data center markets globally, where data centers require not only stable primary power but also backup power and intelligent distribution systems—offering diversified overseas opportunities for Chinese power enterprises.

Dual Expos Form a Closed-Loop for Market Expansion

To capture ASEAN’s huge market potential, the World Power Supply Expo and the 2026 ASEAN Smart Energy & Energy Storage Expo will work in strategic synergy, providing enterprises with a full-chain service system covering technology upgrading, resource matching, and market deployment, empowering companies to expand their presence in the region.

The ASEAN Smart Energy & Energy Storage Expo, taking place from March 25–27, 2026, will serve as a crucial springboard for Chinese power companies to establish a foothold in the ASEAN region. As a professional exhibition based at the heart of ASEAN, its core value lies in building localized, in-depth connection bridges. Leveraging the strong demand driven by ASEAN’s energy transition and digital infrastructure development, the expo will precisely invite key buyers such as power operators, data center owners, and EPC contractors from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and other countries. It will help Chinese enterprises break through regional barriers, gain a deep understanding of local market standards, procurement preferences, and cooperation models, and gradually build a trust-based localized marketing network. This reduces the trial-and-error cost of expanding overseas markets and enables precise alignment with ASEAN countries’ green energy transition needs, laying a solid foundation for long-term cooperation.

The World Power Supply Expo, held from September 16–18, 2026, provides solid technical and resource support for enterprises going global. As a domestic core platform focused on the forefront of the power supply industry, the expo will showcase advanced technologies such as high-efficiency power modules and intelligent distribution systems, while bringing together leading companies in the industry chain, including Huawei and Sungrow, along with upstream and downstream supporting resources. The event will form a complete ecosystem of technological innovation and green energy solutions, enabling product iteration and performance optimization. It helps enterprises consolidate their technical foundation while reducing innovation costs through industry chain resource integration, building core momentum for global competitiveness.

With the advancement of the “dual carbon” goals and the deepening of the digital economy, the ASEAN power market is entering an unprecedented period of opportunity. Chinese power enterprises that seize this window and leverage professional exhibition platforms for precise “technology, resources, and market” connections will gain a first-mover advantage in ASEAN’s energy transition wave.

Together, the World Power Supply Expo and the 2026 ASEAN Smart Energy & Energy Storage Expo will become two golden keys for enterprises to enter the ASEAN market, jointly writing a new chapter for the overseas expansion of the power supply industry.
